Traditionally, crowns used to be the only treatment option for teeth that were broken or decayed.
At Smile Blue Ridge we want to be as conservative as possible in your treatment. We will often try to fix your smile with a porcelain filling, but in some cases a full crown is needed. Usually this is done to replace a failing crown, or when a large amount of the original tooth structure is broken.
When a crown is necessary, we use all-porcelain crowns that don’t have any metal in them. Porcelain looks much better, and is very similar to the look of the original tooth. Without metal, there won’t be that gray line that used to be so obvious with older technology crowns. Porcelain is also much more comfortable against the gums so will feel better in the mouth.
